Our core values
Tolerance. Diversity. Equality.
These values are the cornerstones for QSA’s fight to change perceptions within the greater Gallatin Valley. QSA (Queer-Straight Alliance) is Montana State University’s and Bozeman’s premier GLBTQ (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning) support and activist organization. However, our mission goes beyond the important, but simple, role of being a support network. We will work tirelessly to bring these values to the forefront of community discussion.
TOLERANCE.
QSA feels that tolerance is a broad value that encompasses inclusion and respect. One does not have to agree with a person’s sexual orientation, but that sexual minority’s basic human diginity must be respected and included in the greater community forum.
DIVERSITY.
We believe that not only does diversity mean the representation of abundant and different kinds of people in the overall community, but diversity within QSA brings that to an interpersonal level where we can all be represented in the spectrum of individuals.
EQUALITY.
We also believe that we must fight for our right to be treated with the same dignity and respect that our heterosexual counterparts have within society. Equality doesn’t necessarily mean putting everyone on the same level, but it does mean that we aren’t being discriminated because of whom and how we love.
QSA at Montana State University believes that these overarching values are values that everyone can embrace and that every human deserves for themself.
