Upcoming Elections

Tonight at the group meeting, members established new position descriptions to guide the group for the next few years, until we’re all sick of it. If you are interested in running for election in any of these positions, please email me by Sunday night (April 29, 11:59 p.m.) with your name.

Names of those running as candidates will be emailed to the list and posted to this site by 10 a.m. Monday (4/30) morning. Please attend that evening’s meeting to vote. No business will be conducted after the meeting, so we can keep things short, and we all can get back to our final madness!

All officers and committee chairs must maintain “transition” documentation, and attend at least 75% of business and forum meetings. If unable to attend, must send substitute.

Vice President – Shares responsibilities with president and acts as substitute in absence of president. Serves as secondary advisor to president. Functions as intermediary between committee chairs and officers. Reports to President. Must be student.

Treasurer – Maintain monthly bookkeeping statements, and reconcile expenses and revenue. Reports to President. Must be a student.

Secretary – Maintain business meeting minutes. Keep transcripts of meeting actions. Maintain organized filing system for group records and mail. Maintain electronic communication. Reports to President. Must be a student.

Committee Chairs – all committee chairs are required to maintain synchronized calendar.

Develops relations with members of the business, campus, and community. Coordinates outreach functions ( e.g. Catapalooza, MSU Friday, Pride, etc.) in the community and campus. Reports to Vice President.

Social activities – Establish dates for all QSA social events (e.g. dances, potlucks, coffee, hiking, etc.). Plan and coordinate logistics of events and their set-up. Secure all physical spaces required. Interacts with Press Relations and Outreach chairs to develop awareness. Reports to Vice President.

Question: How does a group make their presence known without scaring away the very people the group is targeting?

Answer: Uh. We’re not sure. We don’t go around pasting rainbows because we don’t want to make people wary of approaching us. Fine. We now have a banner that looks exactly like the logo. We will be using it during MSU Friday and Catapalooza (a two day event during the summer that is a more intense version of MSU Friday). (more…)
